Description

White chocolate chips are small pieces of chocolate made primarily from cocoa butter, sugar, and milk, which are commonly used in baking to add a sweet and creamy flavor to various preparations. Unlike dark or milk chocolate, white chocolate does not contain cocoa solids, which gives it an ivory color and a smooth, sweet texture.

Their origin dates back to Switzerland in the 1930s, when the Nestlé company developed this chocolate variant as an option to be used in cakes and cookies without the chocolate melting easily during baking.

Properties: White chocolate chips provide a delicate, sweet flavor, as well as a creamy texture. Although they are rich in sugars and fats (primarily cocoa butter), they can add an interesting contrast in recipes like cookies, muffins, brownies, and other desserts. They do not contain caffeine or theobromine, unlike dark chocolate.

In different Latin American countries, they are also known as white chocolate tears, white chocolate pearls, or simply white chocolate chips.
