Description
White peaches are a variety of peaches characterized by their juicy, sweet, white or cream-colored flesh, which offers a milder and less acidic flavor compared to traditional yellow peaches. These fruits belong to the Prunus persica genus and are primarily cultivated in temperate climate regions.
Their origin dates back to Asia, having been cultivated for centuries in China, from where they spread to Europe and America. Currently, white peaches are produced in various countries in Latin America, the United States, and Europe, being a common ingredient in fresh preparations, desserts, and jams, thanks to their natural sweetness and delicate texture.
Regarding their properties, white peaches are an excellent source of vitamin C, dietary fiber, and antioxidants that help protect the body against cellular aging and strengthen the immune system. Furthermore, they contain minerals such as potassium and magnesium, which promote cardiovascular health and electrolyte balance.
In different Spanish-speaking countries, white peaches may be known by various synonyms. In Mexico and some areas of Central America, they are simply known as duraznos blancos (white peaches), while in other regions they may also be called melocotones blancos (white peaches). Although "durazno" is the most common term in Latin America, the use of "melocotón" predominates in Spain.
This ingredient is ideal for recipes that require a sweet and mild touch, such as fruit salads, pies, ice creams, and smoothies, providing freshness and a delicate aroma.
