Description

Roasted cashew nuts, also known as cashews, are the nuts obtained from the cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale). They have a characteristic kidney shape and a crunchy yet creamy texture at the same time, making them very versatile in the kitchen.

The cashew is native to the tropical region of South America, especially Brazil, but today it is cultivated in various tropical areas of the world, such as India, Africa, and some parts of Latin America.

Roasted cashew nuts stand out for their mild, slightly sweet, and buttery flavor, adding a delicious touch to salads, stews, desserts, and savory preparations. Roasting enhances their aroma and flavor, in addition to improving their texture, making them ideal for snacking or as an ingredient in both traditional and modern recipes.

Regarding their nutritional properties, cashew nuts are an excellent source of healthy fats, primarily monounsaturated, plant-based protein, fiber, B-complex vitamins, vitamin E, and minerals such as magnesium, iron, zinc, and copper. These nutrients contribute to cardiovascular health, strengthen the immune system, and provide antioxidants.

Depending on the country, in Hispanic America their common synonyms may vary, being called "anacardos" in Mexico, Central America and part of South America, "nueces de marañón" in Venezuela and Colombia, and in some regions they are also known as "cajú", especially in Brazil, although this term is more frequent in Portuguese.
