Description

Cassava chips are thin, crispy slices made from the root of the cassava, also known as manioc or casabe in different regions of Latin America. Cassava is a tuber native to South America and very popular in Latin American cuisine, valued for its neutral flavor and firm texture.

These chips are prepared by slicing the cassava into thin rounds that are then fried or baked until they achieve an irresistible crunch, similar to potato chips but with a characteristic flavor and texture. They are an ideal side dish for main courses or a healthy snack when prepared with little oil.

Regarding their properties, cassava is an excellent source of complex carbohydrates, provides sustained energy, and is naturally gluten-free. Furthermore, it contains dietary fiber, vitamin C, and small amounts of minerals such as calcium and potassium.

In different Latin American countries, cassava chips may also be called manioc chips, ajipa, or simply fried cassava, although the preparation may vary slightly. Their versatility and flavor make them a popular ingredient in various recipes, from snacks to side dishes that complement both traditional and contemporary dishes.
